Reading StoryBranch

Q: Who is writing this story?
This story is being written by people all over the web. Each person writes a small part of the story, and other people continue the story off of what was written before them. In this way, the story constantly evolves and growes.

Q: What do I do if I come across an inappropriate story?
We try to make sure no inappropriate content makes it through, but if something happens to slip past us, then please contact us at contact@storybranch.com and we will take it down as soon as we are able.

Writing for StoryBranch

Q: How can I write a part of the story?
It is actually very easy to write part of the story. Just read the story until you find a branch that has not been written (it will say "Create this branch"). Then click on the link and follow the directions to write your part of the story.

Q: I just wrote some of the story, why can't I see it yet?
Our editors have to review each part of the story before it can go live. Usually this is done within a couple hours, but may take longer. Our work on this site is in addition to our full time jobs/school, so have some patience. :)

Q: What are the rules for posting?
Glad you asked. The general rule of thumb is - play nice. If you think it is inappropriate to post, it probably is. Here are some more detailed rules for those of you who want them:
- Posts should follow the storyline that has been layed down before them, they should not just start from scratch
- Content should be rated PG-13, which means no strong sexual content, and easy on the profanities and violence
- Content must be your own; you can not copy it from someone else
- Do not post real telephone numbers, addresses, social security numbers, or any other type of personally identifiable information
- Do not promote hate or violence against other individuals or groups

Q: What do you use my email address for when I submit it with a post?
We will contact you when your post has been accepted or rejected. We will also contact you if there is an issue with your post that you may be able to fix and get accepted, instead of us just rejecting. Without the email address, we would have to just reject it in these cases. In the future we hope to add in some additional features that will let you claim all of your posts, and give you a profile where you can show which post was yours. We will be able to go back and connect you with posts that you have made previously if you use the same email address for all of these posts - if no email address is provided, they will become unclaimable. We will absolutely not give away the email addresses to any other companies or sites outside of StoryBranch. At this time we have no intention of sending out any type of mass emails to our users.

Kitchen sink

Q: Why is my kitchen sink dirty?
We have no idea. Have you tried cleaning it?
